The Work that Reconnects

Our world is in the midst of the most monumental cultural shift humanity has ever experienced. As profound as the agricultural revolution, as drastic as the industral revolution, but necessarily faster than any social change of its magnitude to date. Whether you call it "blessed unrest," "The Great Turning" on one hand, or "The Great Unraveling" or "long emergency" on the other, it requires the subtle and gross shifting of our awareness and ways of life to move toward sustainability. It means for us all the death of one way of living and the birth of another. Cultural forces and the action of systems are driving the implosion and also the transition. This workshop will help us orient to and skillfully respond to those forces.

Join Karina Lutz and Jim Tull for a day of “The Work that Reconnects.” This perspective-changing, life-affirming experiential learning process helps us face, feel, and make sense of our increasing and multiple global catastrophes: from Fukushima to the tar sands, perpetual wars to global warming, to our civilization's intertwined economic, environmental, and social crises. We'll work to reclaim the energy for action that is thwarted when we put our natural responses to these crises on the back burner or suppress them altogether. We'll reclaim and rejoice in our sense of interconnectedness to each other and life and earth.

Starting with gratitude for living in earth, we'll move into honoring our pain for the state of the world, then see with new eyes--looking at the world through a holistic, systems-based and life-affirming paradigm--and finally end with exercises to help us go forth into the world with renewed passion, clarity, and a sense of ‘power with’--instead of the prevailing ‘power over.’ This process, developed by Joanna Macy with other deep ecologists , is called the spiral of the Work that Reconnects.

Cost: $50.
