EASE Training: Body-Intelligent Skills to Heal Attachment and Support Core Self-Regulation Processes in Persons with Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are complex, multi-layered and pernicious. And yet, even the best evidenced-based interventions currently available have limited outcomes. Paradoxically, the body, the very stage where the war is waged, may be the missing link to effective treatment for eating disorders.

The body plays an intrical role in the self-regulation of thinking, feeling and behaving, and EASE™ is the bridge between traditional and body-oriented approaches to treatment. This training expands current models beyond talk therapy by highlighting the crucial role of attachment, the body, and the neurobiological processes that serve as both barriers to recovery and untapped healing resources for those who are struggling. Informed by the latest research, you will learn essential skills for healing core regulatory processes in eating disorders:

1. Learn to understand and use the language of the body to enhance your current approaches to ED treatment and increase body intelligence (BQ) in you and your clients.

2. Go beyond talk therapy by integrating limbic-to-limbic and bottom-up (body-to-brain) processes to facilitate greater attunement, support attachment structures, and heal core system dysregulation.

3. Explore the metaphors that reflect the body experience and the role of sensory-motor awareness in the recognition and “metabolism” of emotions.

4. Gain confidence in using body-oriented approaches through practical experiential exercises in body awareness, non-verbal communication, and body posturing to clear habitual stress responses.

This two-day course, open to professionals working - or interested in working - with persons with eating disorders, will include time for case discussion and brainstorming practical applications of what you learn. Continuing Education credit for this program is awarded by Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) for psychologists, social workers and dietitians. Attendees completing this program receive 12 continuing education hours of credit. Cost is $375 with CEs included and $350 without CEs. Go to our registration page for discounted early registration rates (30 days advance registration) and student rates (student ID must be presented at the door). Early registration discounts end on August 23rd.
