May 2015 - Top Ten ISO/IEC 17025 Deficiencies Cited in a Life Science Testing Laboratory 

What is A2LA, a lab accredation organization,  doing to educate life science owners and facility managers on best practices for lab design and operations?

ABOUT A2LA:

A2LA is a non-profit membership association with over 35 years of experience providing internationally-recognized accreditation and training services.  A2LA is internationally-recognized through the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA).  A2LA offers accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 (testing), ISO/IEC 17065 (product certification), ISO/IEC 17043 (proficiency testing providers), ISO 15189 (clinical), ISO 17020 (inspection bodies) and ISO/IEC Guide 34 (reference material producers). 

On Thursday, May 7th, join with Ft. Detrick SAME members and our guest speaker, Roxanne Robinson at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Fredrick, MD at our monthly program followed by a networking Happy Hour with complimentary appetizers, (drinks on your own), at the Wine Kitchen on Carroll Creek Way, within walking distance, one block away. Parking at Carroll Creek Garage serves both locations.

 

About our Guest Speaker: 

ROXANNE M. ROBINSON -  A2LA Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Robinson has been with A2LA since 1990 and her responsibilities include supervises all technical and human resource operations related to the A2LA accreditation of laboratories, inspection bodies, PT providers, product certifiers and RM producers.  

She has performed ISO/IEC 17025 (testing laboratories) and ISO 15189 (clinical laboratories) assessments and ISO 9000 audits and also evaluated other assessors in these roles. She has also performed several mutual recognition arrangement evaluations (ISO 17011) of accreditation bodies and is recognized as a team leader by the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC), the Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).  She is also recognized by ILAC to lead regional mutual recognition arrangement (MRA) evaluations.  She has trained and supervised quality assurance staff in performing in-house and second party facility inspections. 

Previously she was employed at Hazleton Laboratories (now Covance Laboratories) for nine years, first as anin vivo and in vitro genetic toxicology technician and then as the manager of quality assurance for the genetic toxicology and biotechnology departments of Hazleton.  Along with ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 15189, ISO/IEC 17011 and ISO 9000, she is knowledgeable about domestic and international Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and regulatory agency requirements. 

Ms. Robinson has a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

She is a past VP of the National Conference of Standards Laboratories International (NCSLI) Board of Directors. She is co-chairperson of the ILAC/IAF Joint Working Group for the A Series.  She is a member of the APLAC Evaluator Training Working Group, the Chair of the APLAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) Council and a member of the APLAC Board of Management.
