Japanese Maples for all Seasons

There is something special about Japanese maples.  They fill our gardens with glorious color and filtered light, and a walk among them helps to wash away the day's stress.  And fortunately, many varieties do wonderfully in our eastern Washington gardens.

Barry “The Maple Guy” Hoffer, arborist and co-owner of Maples for all Seasons Nursery based in Pleasanton, CA, shares his passion for all things maple with this informative class on growing and caring for Japanese maples in your home landscape.

Your two-hour workshop will be jam packed with information on best practices for watering and fertilizing, planting techniques and locations, varieties, and pruning, in addition to covering Japanese maples that do well in frost proof containers.

About your speaker:

Barry “The Maple Guy” Hoffer and his wife Sue turned their passion for Japanese maples into a business when they opened Maples for all Seasons Nursery in Pleasanton, California.   Today Barry and Sue have collected almost ¾ of the world’s available cultivars and are still adding.

Considered a maple expert, Barry regularly conducts classes as “The Maple Guy” and is a frequent guest on popular radio shows such as Ciscoe Morris’ “Gardening with Ciscoe” on 97.3 KIRO FM, Seattle, WA; Bob Tanem’s “In the Garden” on KSFO, 560AM, San Francisco, CA; Farmer Fred, Fred Hoffman’s “ Garden Show" on NewsTalk 1530AM KFBK in Sacramento, CA and does regular appearances at local Garden Clubs, Home and Garden Shows, Landscape and Garden Shows, and Nurseries throughout the United States.

Both Barry and his wife Sue are members of the International Society of Arboriculture, Western Chapter.
