Who:  YOU!

What:  An Ubuntu Day of Service...Volunteering at National Mission Institutions in our conference.

What does UBUNTU mean? Ubuntu is a unique word. A Zulu phrase, it can be translated “I am only because we are, and since we are, therefore I am.” Or “I am human because you are human.” It recognizes each human being as part of a community. It moves us to action on behalf of our neighbor. Ubuntu is a celebration of being in community with people as mission.

When:  Saturday, October 17, 2015; 9:00am to 2:00pm.  Approximate schedule (can vary slightly from site to site): 9:00-9:20am - Orientation & Commissioning; 9:20am-1:45pm - Mission Service (with lunch break); 1:45-2:00pm - Debriefing and Closing.

Where:  YOUR CHOICE! Choose one of the following locations to volunteer! Maybe even choose one that you have never visited before! The sites are: Bethlehem Center (Charlotte), Bethlehem Center (Winston-Salem), Brooks-Howell Home (Asheville), Pfeiffer University (Misenheimer), Bennett College (Greensboro), and UMAR Homes in Charlotte & Gastonia. See addresses & links to Google maps at left.

Why:  United Methodist Women...turning faith, hope and love INTO ACTION on behalf of women, children and youth around the world!

Registration:  There is no registration fee.  We just need you to register so that we can know how many people to expect at each volunteer site. Thanks!

What if I can't go...is there a way that I can help?  Yes!  You can make a contribution to help with expenses for our Ubuntu Day! Every dollar will be put to work through Mission Giving!
