Please join us for a FREE day of professional development presented by Sika Corporation at the Finishing Trades Institute in Philadelphia on May 14th, 2015. This program will include a mix of classroom and live hands-on demonstrations. All participants will receive six PDH credits and five AIA/CEU learning units.

8:00 am - Selection and Installation of Joint Sealants
- Joint sealants seal penetrations between construction elements…a critical part of the building envelope. They prevent ingress of water/moisture to building interior and also play a role in the prevention of reinforced concrete corrosion, which can lead to structural failures. Discuss the various sealant types, purpose of sealants / common applications and critical success factors.
9:00 am - Balcony and Parking Deck Coating Systems
- Review of waterproofing products and solutions for concrete exposed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Explore solutions for multi-story parking decks and ramps, foot bridges and walkways, mechanical rooms, stadiums, balconies, plaza and rooftop decks
10:00 am - Liquid Applied Waterproofing Membranes
- Examine various fluid applied roofing & waterproofing membranes and the basic differences between fluid applied membranes and coatings. Review field installation considerations.
11:00 am - Finishing Trades Institute Facility Tour – Live Product Demo’s
12:00 pm - Lunch – Provided by Sika
1:00 pm - Chemical Anchoring
- Discuss general chemical anchoring principals. Examine industry standards for adhesive anchors as well as available design software. Review basic design principals and installation steps.
2:00 pm - Green Roof Design Considerations
- This program will examine the general concepts of green roof design with specific attention to the critical role of waterproofing green roof systems. Additional program topics include the overall benefits of green roof systems and obtaining LEED certification.
