UEZ to Offer FREE Hands-On Workshop on Inventory Management and  Barcoding

May 6

As rewarding as owning and managing your own business can be, its challenges and frustrations can sometimes be daunting, particularly in today’s highly competitive environment. The Lakewood Urban Enterprise Zone’s (UEZ) program is pleased to announce a hands-on workshop designed to assist big and small retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and warehouse operators. The seminar will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Conference Room C of the Lakewood Municipal Building, 231 Third Street, Lakewood.

To most organizations, inventory is one of the more visible and tangible aspects of doing business. Beginning with the management of suppliers delivering raw materials to goods in various levels of completion in the production process and management and delivery of finished goods in the distributions channel, each type represents money tied up until the inventory becomes purchased products. In today’s competitive market, regardless if it’s local or global, managers need to understand their product and the method in which it is moved in, through and out of the business.

Jeff Ayd of ID Solutions will be our guest speaker.  ID Solutions was founded over 30 years ago by Jeff Ayd, who holds a patent on the first portable electronic labeling system.  IDS wrote some of the earliest software for barcode printing and UCC128 compliance labeling, making this technology economically available to a wide range of companies.  Prior to starting the company, Jeff was a Material Handling Administrator for Macy's Northeast division, and was heavily involved in inventory management and systems development.

About 15 years ago, ID Solutions joined forces with Arch Crown, Inc., a 100-year-old label and tag manufacturer, to merge its technical skills with Arch Crown's label manufacturing expertise.  Combined, they provide total solutions from simple barcode and product ID labels to scanners, inventory tracking software, and RFID & label printers.

This hands-on seminar will give both the experienced user and those just becoming interested an opportunity to better understand what tools are available to help them achieve their objectives. There will be ample opportunity to have your questions answered and to get a feel for how to the technology works.

Mr. Ayd will discuss the application of inventory control methods for handling of merchandise and equipment using real world examples.  “My satisfaction comes from helping my customers achieve success without burdening them with unnecessary expense or complexity,” stated Mr. Ayd. Attendees will be eligible for a no-cost on-site system and vulnerability review at their convenience.

The UEZ encourages all our local businesses to attend this informative seminar.  There is no charge to attend.  Join us on Wednesday, May 6th to learn about inventory management.
