Meet FRANCES HARDER, author of Fashion for Profit, Janet Lees from SF MADE and the expert team from Fashion Biz Inc.all in one night!


   

Our specialists range from PRODUCTION & MANUFACTURE experts to LEGAL, RESEARCH and RESOURCE experts. 

Come prepared with a set of questions and bring your sample products. Garment, jewelery, handbag and other fashion related designers are welcome to join.

How it works:
Participants will be divided into small groups and paired with each individual consultant for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes the group will rotate to the next consultant aiming to have a wide variety of questions answered.

The Consultants:


Frances Harder is an entrepreneur and educator, who prior to self-publishing Fashion for Profit and co-founding the Fashion Business Incorporated (FBI), was a full time Associate Professor at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Frances conceived the FBI in 1998 to provide vital business development, resources and education to creative designers and manufacturers who lack the critical business skills to become successful in today’s competitive environment.


Teri Watts brings 20 years of retail and internet experience to Shoppista.com, a software platform focused on marketing and selling online through social networks. Teri was a start-up executive with Gap Stores Inc., participating in the company's growth from 13 to over 600 stores.  She combines this retail experience in operating stores, buying and merchandising, finance and logistics with web design skills developed during
the dot.com years.

Edward (Ted) Charles Houston Jr. created Polygon Solutions in 2009 as a provider of infrastructure business solutions and enterprise systems management. The company manages all non-creative business functions in the apparel, footwear, accessories, and consumer electronics space for domestic and international companies. Services include sales order and production management, logistics, EDI, customer service and returns, as well as  inventory management. Mr. Houston has also held executive positions as President of People’s Liberation, Chief Operating Officer of Rock & Republic and Executive Vice President of C&C California prior to its sale to the Liz Claiborne corporation.

Janet Lees

Janet serves as the Senior Director of SFMade and played a lead role in launching the organization in 2010.  Viewed as a national model, SFMade is the only organization of its kind to create a locally branded platform and provide industry specific support to the manufacturing sector in San Francisco.

Janet oversees all of SFMade’s key program areas including sourcing, education and advising and the local brand platform.  In addition Janet is responsible for managing key strategic partnerships , heads up the organization’s marketing and communications strategy, and currently serves as chair of Mayor Ed Lee’s Fashion SF apparel manufacturing initiative.
