State of the Young Child

Learn what you can do to protect our youngest citizens, and help them become the superheroes of the future!  Please join us for State of the Young Child, a full day of activities including a luncheon for community leaders, and a training for service providers.  All activities will be held in the Providence, St. Patrick Hospital Conference Center, located on the entry level of the Broadway Building.

State of the Young Child Luncheon

  • 11:30 AM-1:00 PM
  • Conference Center, Rooms 2 and 3
  • $15 for Luncheon only, $20 for Luncheon and Training

Healthy Start Missoula invites you to learn more about the status of early childhood in Missoula County.  Speakers will discuss current issues in physical health, mental health, and education, and will share creative examples of Missoula agencies working together to prevent child abuse and promote child health.  Speakers include Governor Steve Bullock, Jennifer Calder of Montana Kids Count, and representatives from the Foster Child Health Team (a partnership between Providence, St. Patrick Hospital, Missoula City-County Health Department, and Child and Family Services).  Mayor John Engen and Commissioner Jean Curtiss will provide introductions.

Ages and Stages Questionnaire Training

  • 8:00-11:00 AM, 1:30-4:30 PM
  • Conference Center, Room 1
  • $10 for Training only, $20 for Luncheon and Training

Early childhood service providers can register for the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) Training.  Participants will be certified in both the ASQ-3 and the ASQ-SE (Social-Emotional). The ASQ is a simple and accurate tool that assesses child development.  Certified providers can guide parents through the implementation of this questionnaire in order to promote early identification of developmental concerns in children.  More information on ASQ can be found at agesandstages.com.  Agencies utilizing the ASQ must purchase a Starter Kit, which includes quesionnaires.  Information on ASQ products will be provided during the training.  Please contact Anna Semple (anna@missoulaforum.org) if you have any questions.
