Building Capacity in Non-Profit Housing Board of Directors

Wednesday, June 17th, 2015

Breakfast: 8:00 a.m.

Session: 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cost: Members $25.00, Non Members $50.00

Building capacity to deal with the big issues such as the expiration of an operating agreements or planning to manage the changing and evolving needs of tenants is key to ensuring that the non-profit housing organization is sustainable and relevant well into the future.

This session will share some ideas around board succession planning, turnover and recruitment to help you ensure your board has the knowledge, leadership skills, expertise and energy needed to deal with those looming issues.

Education, good policies and other items will be discussed along with some round table sessions to share ideas and find out how other non-profit housing boards are coping. Having top notch management and staff is important and it is not the only element: a strong, educated board is key to making the decisions that are needed, not just for today but for the future.

Greetings: Hon. Mohinder Saran, Minister of Housing & Community Development
