VBS 2015! Wizards and Wonders: A Hero's Journey with Harry Potter
St. Thomas' Church invites children ages 5 through 5th grade to join us for an unforgettable Vacation Bible School where we will use stories and images from the Harry Potter series to explore issues of identity, alliances, team work, spiritual gifts, life's direction, temptations, moral choices, courage and faith. It is Aug 17-21 (Mon-Fri) from 9am-12pm. The cost is $20 per person with a $40 family maximum. Please don't hesitate to contact Tommy Thompson for scholarship assistance.
Based on the Harry Potter books, this is a five day program that brings us together for fun and learning. Wizards and Wonders will surprise you in how well it deals with Christian themes in the popular children's series. Through drama, crafts and games, participants connect the hero's story to Bible stories.
Here is a snapshot of the week:
Day 1: “Moses is called by God.”
Day 2: “Jesus calls His disciples.” “One body, many parts.” Exodus 2-4, Matthew 4, 9, 10; Mark 1, 2, 3; Luke 5, 6 Paul’s letter to the Corinthians
Day 3: “Elijah and the still, small voice of God.” 1 Kings 19:9-15
Day 4: “The temptations in the wilderness.” Matthew 4; Mark 1; Luke 4
Day 5: “The Resurrection.” The Baptismal Covenant
