Hot Topics in the Care of the Hospitalized Child: Optimizing Care, Safety and Quality

The NYC Regional Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) Forum was formed in 2008 and currently involves 170 pediatric hospitalists representing 30 hospitals in the NY metropolitan area.

We are committed to attaining higher quality healthcare for all hospitalized children in the region. This thriving collaborative model promotes inter-professional and inter-institutional communication, and offers a platform for direct interaction, resource accessibility, knowledge dissemination, quality improvement, research and professional growth in the largest urbanized region in the US.

Statement of Needs

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has called for physician education as a key step in providing the safest and highest quality medical care, and recommended the maintenance of proficiency in fundamental core areas.

Our goal is to achieve safe and high quality patient-centered care for all hospitalized children in the area, by providing training opportunities in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Our 4th regional PHM CME conference will address the latest in pediatric hospital care. Through lectures and interactive workshops, the meeting offers you an opportunity to network with colleagues from institutions, acquire new knowledge and skills, discuss hot topics in managing hospitalized children with acute and chronic health conditions, meet the experts, engage in quality improvement and focus on advancing pediatric inpatient care and your own career to the next level.

Target Audience

Pediatric Hospitalist s, Pediatricians, Residents, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Social Workers, and Child Life Specialists caring for hospitalized children.

Pediatric residents are encouraged to attend and will have an opportunity to explore and inquire about PHM as a career.
