APICS DC Metro and WBB are pleased to follow up on our highly successful March Supply Chain Risk Management workshop with a Professional Development Meeting on Tuesday, Aug 11.

The keynote presentation will be given by Christoper Tafe, Special Agent with Homeland SecurityInvestigations (HSI), National Security Division, Counter-Proliferation Investigations Unit. Special Agent Tafe will provide an overview and update on the Administration’s effort tofundamentallyreform the current U.S. export control system in order to enhance U.S. national security and the competitiveness of key U.S. manufacturing and technology sectors. He will also discuss Homeland Security Investigations' role in enforcing U.S. export laws and provide an overview of a criminal case involving the illegal transfer of export controlled technology to the People’s Republic of China.
Following Mr. Tafe is Irvin Varkonyi, President of Supply Chain Operations Preparedness Education (SCOPE), who will give a demonstration of the Risk Assessment Heat Map. We'll explore the interaction between government and private sectors to protect global supply chains while we simultaneously optimize supply chain performance. The Risk Assessment Heat Map will be an interactive exercise assessing strengths and weakness in supply chains, focusing on the probability of threats and vulnerabilities.
