Be Proud! Be Responsible! Be Protective!

This training will introduce participants to a research proven curriculum- Be Proud! Be Responsible! Be Protective!- and will provide the skills necessary to implement the curriculum with youth.   Be Proud! Be Responsible! Be Protective! is an evidence based intervention that helps pregnant and parenting teen mothers develop the knowledge, motivation, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of contracting HIV and other STDs, as well as unplanned repeat pregnancies. Be Proud! Be Responsible! Be Protective! is an adaptation of the Be Proud! Be Responsible! program that emphasizes the role of maternal protectiveness in motivating adolescents to make healthy sexual decisions and decrease risky sexual behavior. It also encourages adolescents to take on sexual responsibility and accountability and increases awareness of the effects of HIV/ AIDS on communities and their children. The curriculum consists of eight, one-hour modules targeting pregnant and parenting teenaged girls of all socio-economic and racial backgrounds, ages 13-18 who attend middle or high school and youth-serving community based programs.
