WORKSHOP PRESENTERS

Keynote Speaker
Samantha Schroth, Ms. Wheelchair America 2015

Motivated and driven are two words commonly used to describe Samantha Schroth, a 23 year-old Wisconsin native. Always pushing herself, Samantha completed her Bachelor of Science and was accepted to begin vet school in the fall of 2013, but then her life changed forever. On May 25, 2013 while standing in the front yard of a friends cabin on a gorgeous and calm day, a dead tree fell on her, causing a spinal cord injury that resulted in paraplegia. After three months of rehabilitation, Samantha was discharged and quickly began to realize the countless misconceptions found in the general public regarding individuals with disabilities. Always loving to learn and teach, Samantha got to work educating both herself and others. Sam’s advocacy work then took a remarkable turn when she was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin 2014. She went on to compete at the national level in Long Beach, California where she was crowned Ms. Wheelchair America 2015 a mere year after her injury. As Ms. Wheelchair America, Sam has traveled across the country, educating and advocating on the national stage.

"Goals, Goals, and Metrics-OH MY! Learning How to Set Realistic Goals and Measure Success"
Adam Wilhelm, Campbell & Company

A hands-on collaborator, Adam Wilhelm engages organizational leadership and volunteers at the strategic level, and translates their visions into implementable activities for fundraising staff. Adam joined Campbell & Company from the Lutheran School of Theology (Chicago) where he served as a major gift officer during the seminary’s $56 million comprehensive campaign that exceeded its goal. During the campaign, he cultivated and solicited a national portfolio of donors and prospects for annual, capital and planned gifts at all levels. Participants will gain an overview of performance metrics and  learn which metrics are truly motivational.

Roundtable Discussions                                                                                           Leader and Learner Tables                                                                                                  Roundtables will have two different Tracks of Focus: Leading and Learning. The Leader Tables will be for seasoned professionals who desire to actively share ideas and experiences with other professionals. The Learner Tables will be for participants who desire to learn more about the specific topic, review practical "take-aways", and ask questions to facilitate learning.

Attendees can choose from a variety of topics presented in both the Leader and Learner roundtable format. Leader Table Topics include: planned giving; capital campaigns; goals, metrics, and benchmarking; hiring and retaining qualified staff; and board development. Learner Table Topics include: CFRE/professional development; crowdsourcing; major gifts (both getting the appointment and making the ask); grants and understanding the Foundation Information Network at Lawrence University; donor centricity; and strategic planning.

Participants will be given the opportunity to attend two roundtable sessions. Sign-ups for the roundtables will take place during registration the morning of the event.
