"Art in Action" this evening event will focus on art, artists and entertainment along with a silent auction.
The weekend kicks off with the Friday night event at the Surfsand Ballroom. These Professional artists will be in the spotlight, demonstrating their techniques in painting, sculpture or other media. As an attendee of the Art in Action event you will have first opportunity to purchase these original works directly from the Artists. If an original work is still available after the event it will return to the galleries for display throughout the weekend.
The silent auction will let attendees bid on unique Cannon Beach experiences, travel packages and other items donated by our Chamber of Commerce members and other hospitality partners. New this year to the Art in Action Auction is that our efforts will go to support three scholarships for kids. One for performing arts, One for the Music Camp, and another for the Arts camp.
Entertainment includes music, presentations from our artists, and special performances by local artists.
Art in Action will be held at the Surfsand Ballroom located at 148 W Gower St. The Wayfarer will be catering the wonderful food and beverages once again. Doors will open at 7:00pm.

The key look of the ILSE JACOBSEN HORNBAEK collection embraces relaxed luxury and smart casuals related closely to the Scandinavian lifestyle. Our roots are deeply grounded in Hornbaek, famous for the relaxing atmosphere around its small harbour, wide sandy beaches and dunes. Inspired by nature, we design ready to wear, rub&rain, bags and accessories in a fine balance between Scandinavian ligestyle, Danish design and modern urban living.
Portland, Oregon roots artist Lloyd Jones has recorded six critically acclaimed albums, toured internationally, and racked up dozens of major awards and accolades. He's a relentless road dog, hitting festival stages, Delbert's annual Sandy Beaches Cruises (he's been a regular on six winter cruises), and clubs all across the land to enthusiastic crowds who can't get enough of his swampy blues, his back porch picking, his serious-as-anthrax funk, soul, roadhouse two-beats, and old-school rhythm and blues (back before the R&B tag was somehow appropriated for other musical purposes, apparently when we weren't looking). Yet he may be the most invisible, best-kept roots/blues/Americana secret on the contemporary scene.
Over a dozen local musicians will be playing music throughout Cannon Beach over the weekend, and local businesses will host these musical acts for your listening pleasure. This is truly a wonderful opportunity to experience the variety of talent that our local musicians possess.
Starting Friday all of our galleries and many other businesses around town will be having receptions, demonstrations, and presentations from many special artists. Each individual location will add their unique touch to our Stormy Weather Arts Festival. Check our website or event brochure for all the details.
