Psychological injuries are stress-related emotional conditions resulting from real or imagined threats or injuries that may become the subjects of personal injury litigation, workers compensation claims, criminal injury compensation, other disability claims, or human rights tribunals. (Koch, 2005).

This interactive two day seminar on Preventing Psychological Injury in the Workplace will focus on,
  • Recognizing the impact of trauma, shame, grief, and ambiguous loss
  • Identifying the potential events and environments that could lead to psychological injury including bullying, harassment, suicide, death, conflict, or toxic workplaces.
  • Strategies to intervene or prevent injury that are less likely to contribute to the stress including bullying awareness and an alternative approach to conflict resolution
  • Building emotional intelligence and resilience among leaders and employees

Highlight Benefits include:

  • Reduced stress leaves, absenteeism and turnover
  • Increased team cohesiveness, morale, productivity and profit
  • Increased ability to manage and improved relationship among co-workers and managers
  • Reduce workplace crisis, reduce costs of unavoidable crisis or traumas
  • And of course, we cannot help but also cover managing your own mental health, stress and well-being!

CAST Canada and Mindful Employer are pleased to lead interactive sessions that promote a new way of thinking about stress, trauma, resilience, and work. We will combine real life examples with practical strategies to improve both your personal understanding and your professional ability to develop both prevention and intervention approaches.

Mary Ann Baynton
is a workplace relations specialist who helps resolve issues for individuals, teams and organizations. Her area of expertise includes workplace mental health, psychological safety, resolving conflict, and addressing performance concerns. She focuses on helping people get unstuck, move beyond problems, restore productivity, and improve working lives. She found that she could not personally meet the level of demand for these services and that small business owners were often unable to afford these services, even though they employ the majority of employees with mental health concerns. Through Mindful Employer Canada’s webinars and materials Mary Ann will be able to reach out and support all of those who strive for positive workplace mental health in a timely and cost-effective manner.

In another role, Mary Ann proudly serves as the Program Director for the Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health which provides free, practical ideas, tools and resources to help with the prevention, intervention and management of workplace mental health issues. Many of the resources are featured on the Centre’s website www.workplacestrategiesformentalhealth.com.
