28th Annual “Puttin’ On the Dog”

Pet Adoption & Fun Festival

Sunday, September 20th, 2015

Adopt-A-Dog, Inc. is a nonprofit animal placement agency whose mission is to save, socialize and secure loving homes for abondoned & unwanted dogs and cats.  Since the agency was founded in 1981, it has placed thousands of animals, and for all these dogs and cats medical attention, spaying/neutering and grooming is rendered prior to adoption as needed.

Puttin' on the Dog hopes to attract around 6,000 local community members from both Connecticut and New York. It gives dogs and cats the opportunity to find wonderful, caring homes. The event is a fantastic family day and Adopt-A-Dog's single biggest fundraiser. During the event, a silent auction and raffle are held in order to raise money for rescue initiatives. This money raised at the event goes towards the overall care of the dogs and cats at the shelter.

"We're really looking forward to all of the activities! We will have many dogs and cats available for adoption. The public can register their own dog to enter various competitions, which are for-fun dog shows held throughout the day with categories including best kisser, best lap dog, aged to perfection, best costume and more. There will be live music by Billy & The Showman, vendors selling pet-related items, great food, a children's play area, and much, much more!" Kristen Rice, Adopt-A-Dog's Executive Director stated. "We want this to be fun for everyone involved, but with the clear message that its about the animals finding forever homes."

And for all these goings-on, lots of volunteers are needed!
