Summer Music Workshops & Classes for Ages 4-Adults

Join us this Summer for tons of fun and creativity! Summer Programs include:

NOTE: Prices below are the check/cash tuition rates. When you move to the registration screen it will list the credit card prices (approx. $5-$20 more per program). To save on credit card fees and pay the check/cash rates simply download the registration form and mail it in with your payment or bring it to the office. Do NOT use the "Register Now" button below if you are going to pay by check. The "Register Now" button below can only be used for online registrations that use a credit card and are processed through PayPal.

 

Important Directions for Registration: Yes, you can register for more than one summer program and or for a sibling using the same "register now" link below. Once you hit the button, complete the info, and make your first selection, you'll scroll down to the end of the list and hit the "add" button to add another individual workshop or add a sibling.

Music Classes & Workshops - Ages 4-Adults

Mermaid_DanceRehearsal

Youth Vocal Ensemble Class, Ages 8+
Emphasis in the class is for students to sing naturally while learning the continued fundamentals in music vocabulary, such as meter signatures, identifying notes on staff line, clef signs, and basic staging.  Singing 'technique starters' are introduced, such as "greater mouth space for singing" and proper breathing.  Innovative games and creative music exercises are an integral part of the class, to spark children’s creativity.  Student recitals take place the last day of class to share their performance practice. A fun, energetic & creative way for you & your children to jump into summer! For those adults interested in a similar fun experience refer to the adult class offered!!

Music Theory for the Contemporary Musician, Ages 12+
Learn how to apply music theory to Rock, Punk, Pop and Folk Music!  Theory is not scary, in fact, its fun!!! 
6 Wednesdays, June 25-Aug 13, 4-5pm; Cash/Check Tuition: $130; Instructor: Mark Dante Troiano

 Acoustic Lounge, Ages 12+
Work together as a group to perform a Rock, Punk, or Pop song.  We will play the latest music, have fun and sound like a professional band!  Salute the Boston Folk Scene and play acoustic arrangements of our favorite songs!  For all acoustic instruments.

Suzuki Beginner Violin - Ages 4-6 with caretaker
Unsure if your child is ready for private lessons? Come explore violin and Suzuki Method from the very beginning. In a relaxed setting, children learn pre-violin skills while having a fun, social experience. Parents will learn how to create a musical environment at home and help their child have a satisfying experience with music. We move at the pace of the class. Siblings welcome. The instructor will discuss rentals at the first class.

Suzuki Violin Twinkler Class
Ages: Continuation of Suzuki Beginnings, or by instructor permission (with caretaker)

With violins in hand, we will perfect rest and playing position posture while working on playing arco and pizzicato, play Twinkle rhythms and open-stringed songs and games. Students who are developmentally ready will begin using left hand fingers, as bow hand development continues. Daily home listening and practice expected.

Suzuki String Group - Ages 6+
Come explore the community part of the Suzuki Triangle! We will include games, group playing (beginning chamber music), theory, optional solo time and more. Open to Cellists, Violists and Violinists who can play the Suzuki Method Literature. Last class will conclude with a community performance and social. Geared towards Twinkles through Book 1. (Book 2 & 3 students call for additional group offerings.)

Fiddling - Ages 7+
Do you play the violin, but wondered how to fiddle on your violin? Then this is the class for you. Fiddling is a folk music tradition, with songs being passed down from player to player by ear over hundreds of years in many countries. Today, fiddling can be learned by ear or from the written page, by beginners or advanced players. Come explore fiddling tunes, ways to improvise with your instrument, or tips on how to follow a new song. If you already fiddle, come and share your favorite tunes.

Adult Ensemble Voice Class
Give yourself a ‘musical time treat' & have a blast exploring your singing voice, while meeting new friends who want to do the same! We'll learn music (new) and visit some fun favorites that are sure to please everyone's musical taste! This group ensemble is a great way for anyone - at any age and level, to have singing made simple, gain self-confidence & improve a better “stage presence" while making friends!

Violin/Viola Masterclass
This is an opportunity to polish your playing. Bring a prepared piece of music of your choice and learn from the experts. This is your chance to get tips and improve your playing by observing others. In a Masterclass, participants take turns workshopping a piece of music in front of other participants and observers. The facilitator will guide you to having the best tone, phrasing, fingering and interpretation of the music.
