As of July 1, the new Earned Sick Time Law is the the law of the land in Massachusetts. The attorney General recently issued final regulations after conducting public hearings throughout the Commonwealth. ABC has worked with the Attorney General's Office to address the many concerens that have arisen under the draft regulations and we are pleased to report the final regulations include a number of positive changes.
The law effects ALL employers in Massachusetts. Those with 11 or more employees must provide a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave; those with 10 or fewer employees must provide unpaid leave. There are many aspects of the law employers need to understand, from how prevailing wage is handled to when and how documentation can be required.
Please join us on 7/28, for a presentation on the new Sick Leave Law from ABC Labor Counsel Carol Chandler of Stoneman, Chandler & Miller LLP. Atty. Chandler represented ABC in a working group on the sick leave law established by the AG and is currently advising a broad range of contractors and other businesses on how to comply with the new law.
There will be ample time for questions and answers. All attendees will receive an informative handout.
