The Finger Lakes Institute and Delta Laboratories in Rochester, NY are co-hosting a training for the Finger Lakes Regional Stream Monitoring Network (FLRSMN). Participants will learn the importance of monitoring biological, physical and chemical parameters of streams; will have practice using the FLRSMN sampling protocols and techniques in a local stream; and will learn how to use the FLRSMN database. Participants will also recieve a certificate for continuing education hours. Upper elementary, middle and high school science teachers, as well as environmental outreach educators, are encouraged to participate in this training.
This training is sponsored by the Finger Lakes Institute, Delta Laboratories and the Dorr Foundation. Upon completion of this training, participants will be encouraged to sign-out FLRSMN monitoring kits for classroom use and will be invited to share their research results at the 2016 Finger Lakes Institute's Science Fair.
A portion of this training will take place outside at Linear Park in Rochester (15 minutes from Detla Laboratories). Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and bring close-toed water shoes, rubber boots or sneakers to get into the water.
