Cultural Competency, Diversity and Inclusivity Seminar 

The purpose of this event is to educate, encourage and inspire attendees to reflect on attitudes about cultural competency, diversity and inclusivity and how they affect our daily lives in and outside of the institutions we learn, work, and strive to succeed in.

Our Speaker: Dr. Patti Rose

Dr. Rose received her Master’s Degree from Yale University and her Doctorate from Columbia University and is currently a full-time lecturer for the Department of Anthropology at the University of Miami. She teaches courses for Africana, American and Women and Gender studies. Dr. Rose is the author of several books on cultural competency, published articles in the Harvard Journal of Minority Public Health and is an internationally known speaker on the topic of Cultural Competency: a public health imperative. Dr. Rose is an enthusiastic and motivational speaker and her passion is to travel the globe to understand the world and share her knowledge of cultures, history, diversity and globalism and to share it with all through lectures, teaching and speaking engagements.

Dr. Rose has also authored books on student debt that uniquely ties into the field of diversity. Her work enables the students to feel good about themselves for making the decision to take on debt to obtain the education they want and deserve. Her work discusses student loans with sensitivity, and provides guidance every needs who has taken out a student loan and develop strategies for repayment.

Credit for Course

Participants will receive an LSU SVM Dean's Certificate of Faculty Development for completion of the workshop.

3.5 credit hours of approved continuing education for veterinarians
