Centre Park Flutes was founded in the Fall of 2013 by Virginia Schulze-Johnson, former professor of flute at Drew University in New Jersey.  Virginia currently resides in the Reading Centre Park Historic District which is where we rehearse.  Our first performance was at the Red Knight Music Association Benefit Recital in March of 2014 at the Miller Center.  Since then we have performed at area churches, private events, and recitals.  We perform as a quartet, quintet, and larger ensemble and play a variety of music from transcriptions of classical music to show tunes, to new and exciting works composed specifically for flute ensemble. We just love the unique and beautiful sound of the family of flutes and enjoy sharing our music with our audiences.

The Reading Pretzel City Chorus, an a cappella barbershop chorus in the greater Reading area, is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.  The Barbershop Harmony Society is an organization of more than 30,000 singers in more than 800 chapters in the United States and Canada.  Another 4,000 are members of affiliated organizations in Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, The Netherlands, Finland, New Zealand, South Africa and Sweden.

Barbershoppers actively support community service projects and local charities, and contribute many man-hours singing for churches, schools, and hospitals.  In addition, most of the organization’s chapters stage at least one annual show, bringing featured quartets and choruses to the community.
