Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and an important update on the regulatory happenings in the world of antimicrobial stewardship/pharmacy practice and how they may impact your institution. Antimicrobial Stewardship, The 3 Rs: Responsibilities, Requirements, Regulations

1. Define and describe roles and responsibilities of antimicrobial stewardship programs as outlined in the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) National Action Plan on Combating Antibiotic Resistance.

2. Describe several legislative bills and/or regulations that impact antibiotic resistance and stewardship.

3. Identify how antimicrobial stewardship is integrated into required conditions of participation for CMS, Joint Commission and others

Principles of Antibiotic Use: Where, What and When

1. Identify the clinical considerations for antimicrobial selection in a critically ill patient.

2. Discuss how antimicrobial control could result in lower costs, improved outcomes and decreased antimicrobial resistance.

DIRECTIONS & PARKING

Parking for the event will be available at the Penn St. and Pratt St. garages.

  • From I-95
    • Take exit 53 for I-395/MLK Blvd (towards Downtown Baltimore) (.5 mi)

    • Merge onto I-395 (.3 mi)

    • Take the MLK Jr. Blvd exit (.4 mi)

    • Slight Left at N MLK Jr. Blvd (.7)

    • Turn Right at W. Pratt St.

      • For Penn Garage: Turn Left at first traffic light onto Penn St; entrance to the Penn Street Garage will be on the left. Guest will walk out of the garage and take a left onto Penn St.; they will then go right onto Lombard St.; the SMC Campus Center will be located about half a block east on your right hand side.

      • For Pratt Garage: Pass through one light, crossing over Penn St.; turn left for the entrance to the Pratt Street Garage. Guests may enter the SMC Campus Center from level 3 on the East side of the garage (when there is security coverage).
