The 4th Annual Salmon Daze Festival is a local event for the City of Anchorage to celebrate one of Alaska’s most valuable resources — wild salmon! Got salmon? Julie Cascio will demonstrate the steps in home processing fish in jars using a pressure canner. Preventing botulism, equipment for canning, using a pressure canner and "how-to" will be discussed.
Julie Cascio has been teaching Alaskans how to safely process salmon in jars and cans since 1991. She serves as home economist with the UAF Cooperative Extension Service in the Mat-Su/Copper River District.
