WCNN Peer Learning: How to Advocate for those you Serve

Join us for a morning discussion on:
-What is advocacy (how it's different from lobbying) and why it's totally legal
-How to use social media in advocacy
-Bringing up uncomfortable topics with donors and constituents
-How to talk about those you serve while being sensitive to their experiences.
-How to engage the board in advocacy
-And more!

Bring your questions but also stories and lessons learned of your own experience in advocating for those you serve.

About The Cupcake Girls: The Cupcake Girls facilitate connections between various community resources and individuals involved in all realms of the sex industry, including individuals who have been sex trafficked. Through trained volunteers and community partners, we respectfully and discreetly provide individuals with resources and support tailored to fit their needs, by building personal relationships, one cupcake at a time.

Presenter Bio: Amy-Marie Merrell is the City Director of The Cupcake Girls Portland. She is also a print production coordinator at Wieden+Kennedy, a Portland native advertising agency located in Downtown PDX. Between volunteering for The Cupcake Girls, her amazing husband, daughter Lux, and their pup Gianna, life is never boring.
