Effective Literacy and English Language Instruction for English Learners in the Elementary Grades
REL Mid-Atlantic and the New Jersey Department of Education's Office of Supplemental Education Programs are co-hosting an in-person Bridge Event designed for teachers, supervisors, and school and district administrators.
This event will focus on research-based recommendations and strategies described in the What Works Clearinghouse practice guide Effective Literacy and English Language Instruction for English Learners in the Elementary Grades.
During the event, Dr. Robin Scarcella, Professor of English at the University of California at Irvine, co-author of the practice guide, and nationally recognized expert on the topic, will discuss implementation of the recommendations, potential roadblocks, and ways to work around roadblocks. She will also lead small groups in strategic planning activities, in which teams of attendees will plan ways to implement practice guide recommendations in their schools or districts.
