Following Jesus Into Your Neighborhood:     Serving all God’s Children

New England Regional Forum

Co-Sponsored by All Our Children and Province 1

Over half of the 50 million school-age children in the US live in poverty, and most of these attend public schools without the resources to close that opportunity gap. Children of poverty are not growing into the fullness God intended for them. Dropout and unemployment rates in some areas approach epidemic proportions, at great personal, social, and economic cost.

How are Christians invited to respond to this crisis? What would it look like if we were to follow Jesus into the neighborhood and up the schoolhouse steps? How can we be wise as serpents and gentle as doves as we confront structural injustice and also paint walls, tutor third graders, and mentor tenth graders?

Across the country Episcopalians are forming grassroots partnerships with under-resourced schools to meet student needs, build community coalitions of support, and advocate for systemic change. The All Our Children National Network and the Episopal Church in New England (the Dioceses of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Western Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut) are co-sponsoring a regional forum for all who serve -- or wish to serve -- children by strengthening public education in their communities. The forum aims to help congregations begin or advance their journeys into partnership; form a community of support; and find local expert resources, tools, and materials.

Join others like you who care about our children.  Come to Barbara C Harris Camp and Conference Center in greenfield NH February 19-20.
