“The Supplier Management Model”
The Supplier Management model covers four dimensions of Supplier Management: Supplier Performance, Supplier Risk, Supplier Relationship Management and Supply Chain Fundamentals that can be utilized in any industry, and examines how these elements expand as the organization matures. Risk and compliance concerns are more prevalent than ever. Companies continue to feel financial pressures. This model starts with a basic understanding of supplier segmentation or categorization and builds on that foundation to establish performance goals and set expectations for supplier performance. Another aspect of the model, Risk Management, covers everything from compliance to financial risk. Through the Business Fundamentals dimension, organizations define adequate internal and external resources, and attain consistency in processes, legal and regulatory compliance. With the final element of Relationship Management, organizations have a robust, dynamic, and comprehensive Supplier Management Program. Cultivating relationships with strategic suppliers to develop common goals and objectives creates a win-win environment. Through these four components, any organization can increase value from their supply chain, improve supplier performance, improving results that clearly drive affect financial performance. |
