Globally Competent Students,    Globally Competent Citizens

Please join us for a community dialogue about Global Competency for our Natick Students!

Hear from Natick High School Principal, Brian Harrigan who will detail NHS's new Global Competency Program.  Dr. Jeffrey Shea, Massachusetts Teacher of the Year (and Global Competency teacher) will speak on the importance of such programs and teaching and Mr. Bill Chase, Senior Director of the Americas Sales and Service for local company Mathworks, will speak on the importance of global competency in the business world.  Speakers followed by community discussion.

Featured Speaker:  Dr. Jeffrey Shea, 2015 MA Teacher of the Year

Jeff Shea is the 2015 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year and is currently a high school social studies teacher in Belmont, Massachusetts.  Shea teaches American Studies, Modern World History, and Global Leadership, an elective he developed that has students exploring social justice and human rights issues.  Shea looks for every opportunity to allow students to be creative, to think critically about global issues, and to hone their research skills.  His hope is that this approach also makes learning fun and inspires students to make a difference in the world.  A lifelong learner, Shea completed his doctorate from Northeastern University in 2013.
