Mr. Busse is one of the stars of the TWC Prospector’s Television show. Mr. Busse has taken out groups such as the Smithsonian Institution as well as the American Federated Gem and Mineral clubs from across the country. As well as many other educational groups in the Heart of the Rockies. Brian will be teaching geology, mineralogy, mapping, prospecting, discovery, environmentally friendly digging, mineral extraction and cleaning techniques and will lead prospecting adventures on Saturday Sept 26th and Sunday Sept 27th. The camp includes an educational field trip to the Thank You Lord mine, weather permitting. You are almost guaranteed to find Minerals and Gems you would never find on your own. The Busse’s will stay at the Ponderosa Lodge with the participants of the Prospectors Camp Adventure.
You will need a High clearance 4WD to access prospecting locations. Jeep Rentals are available from Rocky Mountain Jeep Rentals in Salida, CO. Street legal Dual Sport motorcycles will suffice, but please No ATVs or Side by Sides as you must travel on County roads and Highways to access prospecting sites. This is not a guided Adventure. You will be a provided a Map and we will meet at the site(s).
The Prospectors Camp Adventure will stay and stage at the Ponderosa Lodge in Maysville, Colorado under 14,000 peaks of the Continental Divide off of County Road 240 and Hwy 50 on the breathtaking Monarch Pass. The North Fork Reservoir of the South Fork of the Arkansas River is up the road 9 miles. Lodging and meals will be provided, or you may camp in a tent at the private wooded and secluded campground on-site. A Children’s playground is on-site, as is a bonfire location.
Lodging is in the Rustic Ponderosa Lodge in either a shared room with private shower and bathroom or you may reserve your own multi bed room for your family each with a private bathroom. A beautiful deck with a view of towering 14,000 peaks of the Continental Divide is available for breakfast and dinner, a dining room, on-site cash bar and lounging and meeting rooms are also available.
Yolanda Busse may hold a jewelry making class for those who do not wish to participate in the field trip on Sunday.Excellent Meals will be provided buffet style at the Ponderosa Lodge for the Prospectors Camp Adventure.
Weather could be an issue in late September, but we can guarantee all the Aspen trees will be changing colors and all the autumn colors will be in full effect. If weather keeps us from High Mountain Mining locations, Mr. Busse has plenty of locations at lower altitudes that will provide for wonderful Prospecting opportunities.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience prospecting with a true mining Legend. Whatever you find is yours to keep !
