October 9, 2015

Presented By:
Stephen Betchen, DSW, LMFT, CS
Heather Davidson, Ed. M., MA, LPC, CST

This 6-hour interactive workshop will train participants to utilize a comprehensive treatment model specifically designed to treat couples who present with a wide variety of problems, including sexual symptoms. The model is based on Master Conflict Theory (MCT): an integrative approach which combines psychoanalytic conflict theory and psychodynamic family-of-origin work with basic principles and exercises of sex therapy. MCT is based on book, Magnetic Partners (Betchen, 2010).
Learning Objectives

1. Participants will be able to define Master Conflict theory and its many key factors
2. Participants will be able to identify the 19 master conflicts which underlie a couple's symptoms, including sexual symptoms
3. Participants will learn a new way of conceptualizing attraction and partner choice.
4. Participants will learn a quick and accurate way to assess couple's with sexual and non-sexual problems
5. Participants will learn a new way of integrating sex therapy and couple's therapy.
6. Participants will learn a quicker more effective way to bypass a couple's defense structure.
