High Performance Multi-Family Buildings Workshop Series

Join us for a free and highly-informative workshop that will enable you to better design and plan for multi-family buildings that are high-performance, energy-efficient, and comfortable.

Fall Session Topics:

  • Ventilate it Right - Heat Recovery Ventilation planning and economics for multi-family buildings.
  • Build it Tight - Building envelope design and application using European tapes and membranes.

"Built it Tight" - SIGA

In multi-family buildings, a well-designed and executed high-performance and continuously-sealed envelope contributes to low energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions. It increases both occupant comfort, and most importantly, the building's long-term durability. "Air Tightness & Moisture Management - Strategies in High Performance Building Envelopes" is a fresh look at the features of a resilient and efficient envelope design that examines the key layers that comprise the fabric of the building, and how a well-planned weather, air, and vapor sealing strategy avoids risk and saves money.

Participants will be engaged in a discussion and a hands-on envelope-detailing workshop. During this hour-long, interactive course, participants will learn:

  • Building science fundamentals and the environmental impacts that affect building performance
  • Building envelope key components and terms
  • The importance of a continuous weather & air tightness layer(s)
  • Strategies to avoid risk, from design to implementation
  • Where SIGA has been used locally and regionally to successfully achieve a high performance building envelope.

"Ventilate it Right" - Zehnder ComfoSystems

HIgh performance multi-family ventilation systems can be both centralized or decentralized systems. Join an open discussion on state-of-the-art 90% efficient ventilation systems, and what design choices are cost-effective in ventilating big buildings. New emerging solutions are presented by Zehnder America, covering design and installation. This free course will provide participants with a background in Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) technology, and how to ventilate big residential buildings.
