SBA 8(a) Certification Workshop
The D/FW MBDA Business Center in conjuction with D/FW Minority Supplier Development Council will be presenting a
SBA 8(a) Certification Workshop.
The 8(a) Business Development Program is a business assistance program for small disadvantaged businesses. The 8(a) Program offers a broad scope of assistance to firms that are owned and controlled at least 51% by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.
In order to participate in the 8(a) Business Program, a business has to go through a certification process. Often times this can be a confusing and lengthy process. The purpose of the workshop is to lessen the burden and confusion of going through the 8(a) certification. Once certified, you are able to apply for federal contracts under the 8(a) preferred minority business designation and possibly receive sole-source contracts (up to a ceiling of $4 million for goods and services and $6.5 million for manufacturing). The workshop will consist of an orientation session on October 6th from 2-4 pm and 5 weekly, one day, 2 hour workshops. At the culmination of the training workshops, a final separate one day review will occur to assess the completion of the package before submittal for 8(a) processing.
In order to participate in the workshop, a business will need to be registered or have begun the process of registering in the System For Award Management (SAM) database. We hope to offer a SAM workshop prior to the 8(a) Cerfication Workshop.
