OSCF 2016 STATE QUALIFIER

Cost:  $25.00 per player 

$20.00 for additional sibling players

WHAT:

This tournament is a benefit for Bethlehem-House of Bread, a community center with a food pantry and community garden. It is also to honor Kris Field-Eaton, who has made valuable contributions to the Sherwood School District and the chess community for many years. 

Please help us FILL THE VAN by bringing contributions for the food pantry. Most-wanted items are:

Jams and jellies
Canned fruit
Canned veggies (other than green beans)
Chili
Canned soup
Cold cereal
Toilet paper

EQUIPMENT:

Please bring a chess clock if you have one.  Boards and pieces will be provided. 

AWARDS

  • Trophies to be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each section  (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 1200+).
  • Note: Sections may be rearranged if necessary to ensure even numbers and adequately sized sections.
  • Where necessary, computer tie-breaks (SCO) will be used. 

SECTION DETAILS: 

  • Primary (Unrated K-2nd grade or K-2 U600)
    5 round Swiss, G/35.  Notation is not required.  Clocks will be used only if both players agree or if the tournament director assigns a clock.
  • Elementary (Unrated 3rd-5th grade or 3-5 U600)
    5 round Swiss, G/35. Notation is not required, but strongly encouraged.  Clocks will be used only if both players agree or if the tournament director assigns a clock.
     
  • Middle school (Unrated 6th-8th grade or U900)
    5 round Swiss, G/35.  Notation is not required, but strongly encouraged. Clocks will be used only if both players agree or if the tournament director assigns a clock.
  • High school (Unrated 9th-12th grade or U1200) 
    Four round Swiss, G/45.  Notation and clocks required.
  • 1200+
    Four round Swiss, G/45.  Notation and clocks required.
