There is power in our experiences.
We are most effective when we give voice to those experiences through our programs and in our advocacy. NAMI Virginia will be hosting Smarts for Advocacy workshops to help members and non-members understand the value of their experiences and tangible skills to be community educators and advocates. Be sure to bring your completed story sheet with you! If you need another copy of the Story Practice Sheet, click here to download another copy.
NAMI Smarts is a highly interactive and engaging workshop that employs a variety of adult learning strategies to build knowledge, confidence, and competence in telling your story in an email, phone call or in-person meeting with your legislator.
Module 2: "Emails and Phone Calls" Don’t think your emails and phone calls are making an impact? Emails and Phone Calls shows you how to write emails that get attention and make phone calls that policy makers remember.
Module 3: "Meeting Your Legislator" Want your meetings with policy makers to deliver results? Meeting Your Legislator demonstrates how to orchestrate a successful dialogue with elected officials
Please note that to attend this event, you should have already attended NAMI Smarts Workshop 1: "Telling Your Story". You should also be sure bring your story with you to this workshop. Please arrive by 9AM because we will start promptly at 9:30AM.
*Lunch will be provided.
