SWEEPING OVERTIME RULE CHANGES:

THE PROPOSED FLSA REGS THAT COULD CHANGE YOUR BUSINESS FOREVER

Seats are limited!  Please join our talented panel of local Labor & Employment attorneys and HR Experts to discuss the new overtime regulations proposed by the Department of Labor, what they could mean for the future of your business, and what you can do to prepare.

Proposed Changes to the FLSA: How to Plan, Budget, and Prepare

The Department of Labor has dramatically increased the number of employees who must be paid on an hourly basis.  Previously, employees who earned $455.00 per week (or $23,660.00 per year) could qualify fo rexempt status. The proposed regulations suggest an increase in the threshold for exempt status to $50,440.00 per year.

This increase will cause a number of employees who have been classified as exempt to become non-exempt, meaning that they must now be paid on an hourly basis and are elligible for overtime.

Will there also be a change to the duties text for exempt employees? Will the DOL adopt the new threshold, or will the department implement a different standard?

The comment period for these proposed changes has now closed, meaning employers of all sizes must be prepared. Join us as we explore these changes, discuss best practices for preparing your business, and talk more about the scope of what could be included when the final regulations arrive.

Our esteemed panel of experts will include:

  • Cynthia Thompson - Publisher & Editor, HR Professionals Magazine
  • Jonathan Hancock - Labor & Empoloyment attorney, Baker Donelson
  • Whitney Harmon - Labor & Employment attorney, Baker Doneslon
  • Mario Musarra - Compensation Manager, TruGreen
