Project AIM is a group-level youth development intervention for at-risk middle school youth, ages 11-14. It is designed to reduce HIV risk behaviors among youth and is based on the Theory of Possible Selves. Project AIM encourages participants to imagine a positive future and discuss how current risk behaviors can be a barrier to a successful adulthood.
As a result of participating in this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the objectives, content, activities, components, and seven core elements and unique features of the Project AIM.
- Understand the theoretical foundation of Project AIM and how they are applied in program activities.
- Identify and perform the task needed to prepare for Project AIM.
- Identify the purpose of each of the 12 sessions.
- Identify at least five youth-oriented facilitation skills necessary for successful implementation.
- Identify potential barriers to implementing the Project AIM and describe strategies for overcoming these barriers.
