We are proud to host a fundraising event to support Breast Cancer Awareness

Do you need a Pink tie to wear to the event?  No worries...

Why Pink Tie? The idea for Pink Tie came from UConn NABA member, Tyler Fields who wanted to develop a signature event for the organization focused on civic responsibility and community engagement.  She wanted the organization to support a cause that has impacted people in her life personally as well as many others. Supporting cancer awareness and research became the obvious choice.  Why "Pink Tie"?  "Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide and the second-most common cancer all over.  In 2015, an estimated 231,840 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone.  So no matter who you are or where you live, understanding breast cancer is important.  But the most important thing to know is this: a diagnosis is not a death sentence.  Breast cancer can be treated."    Breast cancer affects all members of the community.  Pink Tie symbolizes men and women joining together to support the cause.

The UConn NABA Chapter and Travelers EDGE is composed of many bright individuals that have interned and arer working full-time with notable companies such as  KPMG, Travelers Insurance PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, Sikorsky, McGladry, UTC, and many others. These students have been given opportunities to advance and excel academically and professionally and would like to give back. The funds raised will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation which supports cancer awareness and research efforts.

Attire: The attire for this event is evening business formal /cocktail attire.  Men are encouraged to wear a pink tie which can be purchased from the UConn NABA chapter.

Support the Cause!

The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) was established in 1969 by nine African-American accountants in the New York area. These founders saw a need for a professional organization of minority accounting professionals. Their goal was to establish a national association to deal forthrightly and effectively with the many common problems faced by the growing number of African-American professionals in the world of accounting.

Travelers EDGE is unique program that provides underrepresented and first generational students resources and support to enhance their degree and make them more competitive in the business world. The program’s structure will yield a competitive advantage to the participants as they enter the professional world of business. Students must be interested in a career in business, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, communications, economics or the insurance industry.
