Handbell Boot Camp 2015

Get in shape for this ringing season!

This workshop (workout?) is designed for ALL ringers and directors -- whether you are new to ringing, have been doing this for 50 years, or are somewhere in between.  We all need to look at ourselves, check our techniques, and get in shape.

Classes for ringers and directors:

1.  Ringing Techniques -- review basic ringing stroke for ergonomics and sound production.  Practice a wide range of basic ringing techniques.

2.  Rhythms -- note values, figuring out the counting, and dealing with changing time signatures.

3.  Looking Good, Sounding Better -- what do you look like when you ring?  what does your ensemble look like?  and how does the way you ring affect the sound you produce?

Class for ringers:

4.  Weaving -- getting the bells out of your hands, and picking up other bells so that you can ring them musically.

Class for directors:

5.  Conductor Class -- including topics such as bell assignments and repertoire selection.

Everyone will take classes 1, 2, and 3 plus either class 4 or 5.

The workshop will end with everyone sightreading a piece and trying to apply everything that you learned during the classes.

Workshop Fee:

Members, $20 (your, your director's, or your organization's membership number required)
Non-Members, $35

Bring to the workshop:

A stand-up music binder, gloves, and a brown bag lunch.  Beverage and dessert will be provided.  No, you do not need to bring bells.
