Caltrans Section 39 HMA Specification Class San Diego

CALTRANS SECTION 39 ASPHALT SPECIFICATIONS HAVE COMPLETELY CHANGED! GET THE LATEST INFORMATION ON WHAT'S NEW AND HOW IT WILL IMPACT YOUR PROJECT

The most popular CalAPA class of all time is back -- "Critical Changes to Caltrans Section 39 Asphalt Pavement Specifications."  This is a new and updated version of our most popular class that was held at locations across the state in 2010 and 2011. Much has changed since then. We'll go over all the changes and ask any questions you may have. This class is ideal for pavement engineers, designers, materials technicians, specifiers, public agency inspectors, consultants and anyone else who may reference Caltrans specifications on public or private pavement projects.

Back by popular demand, the instructor for this class is Paul Curren, P.E., (pictured) who has decades of experience in the area of Paul Curren asphalt pavements, first while working for a local public works agency and later for CalAPA associate member Pavement Engineering, a testing and consulting firm. His oft-repeated saying, "Do it once, do it right, go home and get paid" has become legend in paving circles.

As one of our most popular instructors, Curren brings a lively and engaging style to the class, and previous class attendees -- regardless of experience -- have learned valuable information they could put to work right away. This class will cover elements of "Superpave," which is being incorporated in the latest version of the Caltrans specifications, including new test methods such as the Hamburg Wheel Track test, and new ways of measuring pavement smoothness using the Intertial Profiler.

Bonus! All class attendees will receive a reference booklet that includes copies of the slide presentation, key acronyms and a glossary for future use.

Registration for this class will be on a first-come, first served basis for the first 25 people registered. On-line registration is required and must be completed by clicking on the "Register Now" button below. For registration questions, please contact Ritha Nhorn of CalAPA at (916) 791-5044. Questions about course content can be directed to CalAPA Executive Director Russell Snyder at (916) 791-5044.
