2015 Pro Bono Week

Put Your Past Behind You:
Sealing Your Record in DC Superior Court

sponsored by The Expungement Clinic at DC Law Students in Court

Thursday, October 29, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm

A criminal record can affect all aspects of an individual's life, including employment, housing, acceptance for public assistance, prosecution in future criminal proceedings, admission into the military, voting rights, and so much more.  The District of Columbia's complicated and strict expungement/record sealing laws make it difficult for an individual to successfully seal their criminal record without representation.

Join the staff of the Expungement Clinic for a training to teach attorneys and members of the public about the requirements to be eligible to have your record sealed in DC and the process of getting your record sealed. This will be a combined know your rights session and overview of the statutes and procedures that govern the sealing and expungement of criminal records in DC Superior Court. There may be a limited opportunity to connect indigent clients with pro bono attorneys at the end of the session.
