TSSW Homecoming Tailgate Information
For the second year, the School will host a free football tailgate for TSSW students and alumni prior to Tulane's football game against UConn. The School has reserved a tent in the university's Tailgate Village, located in the quad next to the Lavin-Bernick Center on Tulane's Uptown Campus. We will be in Tent No. 35.  For our exact tent location, please see this map. There will be food and drinks at the tent along with some giveaways. Tailgating will begin at 11 a.m., which is four hours prior to the game's 3 p.m. kickoff. For more general tailgate information, please click here.

For more information about any homecoming event, contact Kathy Smith at krshiv@tulane.edu or 504-826-3489. You also view all Tulane Homecoming events here.

Online registration is now closed, but feel free to show up to any of the events on Saturday.

About Our CEU Event Speaker
Heather StorerHeather L. Storer, PhD, LMSW, is an Assistant Professor at the Tulane School of Social Work. She earned her PhD at the University of Washington School of Social Work. She has worked nationally in the fields of dating and domestic violence prevention, girl’s leadership, and positive youth development. Heather’s research agenda focuses on exploring strategies to meaningfully engage youth as partners in the primary prevention of adolescent dating violence, sexual assault, and other high-risk behaviors. She is interested in infusing youth empowerment, cumulative adversity and place-based frameworks into the design and implementation of community-level approaches to dating violence prevention and adolescent health promotion.

Heather’s dissertation research explored the representation of dating violence in young adult literature, a media genre marketed directly to adolescent women. Findings underscored how structural and community-level determinants of TDV have been overshadowed in the media’s portrayal of dating violence. Her current work is exploring the framing of intimate partner violence on social media sites including Twitter. Heather has published her work in a handful of journals including: Violence Against Women, Trauma, Violence, & Abuse, and Children & Youth Services Review. Her research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health Prevention Training Fellowship, and the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences of the National Institutes of Health. In addition to research, Heather has a strong commitment to preparing the next generation of social workers with the skills, competencies, and humility to engage in ethical and socially just practice.
