Healing the Wounds of Attachment and Rebuilding Self: An Advanced Clinical Course

Presented by Deany Laliotis, LICSW

Spend This Winter Weekend in Beautiful

San Diego

 February 19th-20th, 2016

Hosted by Susan Brown, LCSW

This advanced EMDR workshop taught by Deany Laliotis, master EMDR therapist and trainer, is for clinicians who are seeking to broaden their skills working with developmental trauma and attachment issues. As is often the case when we're working with attachment, the difficulties that challenge clients in their lives are the same ones that occur within the therapeutic process itself. We will explore how to use these challenges as moments of opportunity to work through the childhood wounding, making secure attachment possible in adulthood. We will also address the "art and timing" of EMDR therapy, prioritizing what to work on as a case evolves and as issues shift from foreground to background and vice versa. We will expand on the therapist's understanding and application of interweaves for navigating the delicate waters of attachment trauma and facilitating a rebuilding of self in this transformational process.

What people say about training with Deany

“A skilled master therapist and teacher, Deany has impressive depth and breadth. She is creative, contagious and an enthusiastic, therapeutic powerhouse.”

" After 2 days of training, I felt energized and more confident to address attachment needs and complex trauma. I could have stayed for 2 more days. Presenters don't get much better than Deany"

Through lecture, discussion, video clips and a live demonstration, participants in this workshop will be able to:

  • Understand the four adult attachment styles and identify two or more patterns of response that correlate with the client's predominant style
  • Develop an AIP-informed treatment plan by identifying formative attachment experiences where the client learned to respond using these identified patterns
  • Identify the different attachment states both in and out of processing, bringing attention to the client's somatic experience
  • Identify one or more defensive patterns of response in and out of processing to facilitate the client's ability to observe the defense and consider alternative emotional strategies
  • Develop the client's capacity to successfully integrate more adaptive relationship skills into their current lives
  • Apply the Clinical Interweave Categories (CIC) to navigate moment to moment processing demands and to address developmental deficits and facilitate repair
  • Identify at least two ways to modify the three-pronged protocol of past, present and future to address ongoing clinical demands of a case
