Please join ASHRAE Orange Empire and The Orange County Chapter of ASPE for our Joint Meeting on Wednesday, the 28th of October.

There will be two presenters, Phil Batterson, P.E of US Airconditioners and David Hernandez, P.E. of Dawson Company. Phil will speak on the challenges of DDC plumbing drives in California and David will talk about increased pump efficiency via overspeeding and the use of oversized impellers.

Phil Batterson is the Controls Manager for USAirconditioning. Phil was the Product Manager at Alliance Air Products for the VRFarms Product. This was a massive variable refrigerant system, based on the Turbocor centrifugal compressor. He has been a Technical Representative, Technical Trainer and managed the Technical Support group for Carrier’s largest US distributor. Phil is a two-time Past President of the Western Section of the Los Angeles ASHRAE Chapter. Phil has also been an Adjunct Instructor and taught at Orange Coast College in their HVAC program.

David Hernandez is Senior Vice President at Dawson Company, a Los Angeles based manufacturer’s representative specializing in HVAC/Plumbing hot water, pumping, heat transfer and steam systems. He has been in the HVAC/Plumbing industry for over 20 years, graduating from Cal Poly Pomona in 1992 with a BSME with an emphasis in energy. He began his career as an entry level mechanical/plumbing design engineer and later moved to Dawson Company in 1995. In his twenty years at Dawson Company he has held positions in inside sales/customer service, outside sales and currently heads Dawson Company’s Business Development Group focusing on systems & technical support for consulting engineers.
