Normalizing eating and restoring or establishing a healthy relationship with food is a primary treatment goal. This session will educate attendees about the usefulness of mindful eating at the various levels of care, the limitations and benefits in eating disorder treatment and how it compares and contrasts with other approaches to normalizing eating, and addressing the nutritional needs of individuals struggling with eating disorders.

This seminar will:

  • Increase knowledge of and differentiate between mindful eating, attuned, and intuitive eating
  • Discuss various techniques used in ED treatment to repair and restore normalized eating
  • Discuss the dietitian’s role in the treatment of ED
  • Discuss individualized nutrition treatment approaches with client

This activity is pending for two (2) continuing education units by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy, Minnesota Board of Social Work,Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy, Minnesota Board of Psychology, and Commission on Dietetic Registration.

About the Presenter: 

Lisa Diers, RD, LD, E-RYT

Lisa works with clients to find a healthy relationship with food, mind, and body through nutrition counseling and teaching yoga. Also, as Director of Nutrition and Yoga Program Manager, she oversees the operations and direction of these two disciplines for The Emily Program. Lisa is passionate about the healing power both nutrition and yoga provides to those struggling with disordered eating and negative body image.  She is humbled and honored to be a part of the recovery journey. Lisa earned a B.S. in dietetics, food and nutrition at Minnesota State University-Mankato and graduated from the U of M Medical Center, Fairview and
                                                  U of M Children’s Hospital dietetic internship program.
