NOVEMBER 11, 2015 (9am-4pm) in Ann Arbor, MI

CONFERENCE: "Inside China: Understanding China’s Current and Future Automotive Industry"

Current and Future Chinese Automotive Industry

Our 8th annual Inside China Automotive Conference features insights by manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, and UM experts on the current and future prospects for the automotive industry in China.  The Chinese market continues to be the largest automotive market in the world despite a recent slowdown.  As the Chinese government tries to balance the explosive growth of its economy with the need to create a sustainable environment, it continues to experiment with policies that it hopes will meet both of these needs.

Our speakers will discuss many of the most important issues related to the industry including industry structure, assessments of government automotive policies related to vehicle sales and environmental impact, changes in market structure, multi-national research consortiums focused on clean energy, and the role of foreign manufacturers and suppliers in the industry, as well as future industry trends.

Some of the key questions we will address include:  How are state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the auto sector operating?  How is the government developing capabilities in its companies?  How do Chinese consumers value vehicle quality compared to US consumers?  What government policies are in place to support vehicle sales that will lead to a more sustainable environment?  What path is the government taking to reach its goals?  What support is the government providing for technology research and development in the areas of clean energy?  How are automotive suppliers, foreign and domestic, supporting technology and environmental goals?  What are the current consumer trends in vehicle purchasing, and what are some of the potential future buying patterns?
