CalAPA Contractors' Dinner Nov. 10, 2015

 Reception & Networking: 5:30 p.m. / Dinner: 6:30 p.m.

Featured topic: L.A.'S PROBLEMATIC 'CLEAN UP GREEN UP' ORDINANCE

The City of Los Angeles' Planning Department  is pushing a "Clean Up Green Up" ordinance that, as currently drafted, could be harmful for the business community in general and contractors in particular. CalAPA has joined a broad coalition led by the L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce in a concerted effort to stop or significantly alter the proposed ordinance.

Alycia Witzling, manager of public policy for the L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce (pictured), has been the point person for the coaltion and will be a special speaker at the CalAPA Contractor's Dinner to discuss the draft ordinance, how it could impact the asphalt pavement industry,  and how the coalition is engaging the city.

Her portfolio includes land use, construction, and housing policy issues, as well as technology and innovation Alycia Witzling legislation. Since joining the Chamber earlier in 2015, she has worked on issues ranging from Clean Up Green Up at the city level, to the transportation special session at the state level. Prior to working at the Chamber, she worked in strategic development for Discovery Cube LA, the region's newest science center. She previously worked for the Anti-Defamation League in Los Angeles, and is a former senior field representative for state Assemblyman Lloyd Levine, who represented parts of the San Fernando Valley in the early 2000s.

In addition, the meeting will feature, a "technical tidbit" from Steve Marvin from Labelle-Marvin, and an  "insurance tidbit" by Steve Cota with Patriot Risk & Insurance.

The CalAPA Contractors' Dinner is the paving industry's premier event to socialize in a relaxed setting, enjoy delicious food and stay current with the latest industry trends, technical updates and more. Each dinner features a industry-specific presentation and "news you can use" on a number of topics, such as insurance, HR, technical aspects of paving and more.

Space is limited and advanced registration is required for this event. For more information contact Ritha Nhorn of CalAPA at (916) 791-5044.
