Session Description:  

Have you noticed some projects that appear to be bigger than just a project?  Is it a program?  What is the difference?  How do you set one up?  This presentation will share the experiences from one program manager’s perspective on what appeared to work well to get the programs set up for success.

  • Processes / focus areas necessary to establish a program for success
  • Challenges you will likely face and ways to address
  • Tools & techniques that can be helpful in program management

About the Speaker: 

Andrew C. Galbus, PMP has twenty-seven years of experience in healthcare and information technology. His recent sixteen years have been leading programs, projects, and a portfolio for Nursing Informatics. He managed complex multi-million dollar diverse projects and programs with teams ranging from 8 to over 100 working with budgets across multiple cost centers, complex scope, schedule, risks, issues, organizational change management, and multiple stakeholders (including vendors and external partners). Eleven years prior to the sixteen were in IT systems analysis, design, development, and support. Education highlights include a B.S. in Computer Science and Business Administration-Marketing, an MBA and certifications in project management, ITIL, and ISO20000.

Dress Code:  The PMI La Crosse - Rochester Chapter does not have a policy for dress code and trusts its attendees to dress appropriately.  Business casual dress is certainly acceptable attire at events and workshops.
