QuickBooks 201 - Optimizing Your System

The three most important things to achieve great benefit from your QuickBooks system are:

1. Get your Chart of Accounts right
2. Design and set up your Items List with a plan for the future
3. Use QuickBooks every day

This advanced QuickBooks workshop will teach you how to fully develop the first two – your Chart of Accounts and your Items List (we can’t watch over you to make sure that you use QuickBooks on a daily basis).  QuickBooks is a great system for helping you to manage your business effectively, but if it isn’t set up correctly, the value it will bring to you will be limited.  As the saying goes, “Garbage in, Garbage Out”.

When your Chart of Accounts and Items List are optimized for your business, QuickBooks will provide you with the information that you need to truly understand how your business is progressing.  Your sales data will be comprehensive and complete, the reports that you generate will be meaningful, your accountant will have what he or she needs to assist you, and more.

Instructors Jane and Bob Bloom share their years of experience with QuickBooks from running their own successful business, INK & TONER USA, LLC,a retail store previously headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida.  

Jane has a BBA degree in Public Accounting, along with a Minor in Secondary Education, from Hofstra University in Uniondale, New York and an MA in Liberal Studies from the SUNY at Stony Brook. Jane has been an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Department of Palm Beach State College since 1983, teaching Financial Accounting, Bookkeeping I, Bookkeeping II, Business Math, and Introduction to Business.  She was selected to Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 1996.

Bob Bloom is a certified SCORE mentor who holds degrees in environmental engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, secondary education from Hofstra University, and computer systems from Florida Atlantic University, and has an extensive background in education, product marketing, business plan training, and sales and sales training. Bob proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the International Imaging Technology Council and the Advisory Board of Keiser University’s Business Department. He previously served on the Advisory Board of the IT Academy at Palm Beach Central High School and on the Board of Directors of the Palms West Chamber of Commerce.
